Oscar,
our resident canine started barking around 5:30am this morning and we figured
out that he must have smelled a resident moose because we found fresh tracks near the
dock.
Well sort of. To be completely honest, he was actually
taking care of business, I just though it would be better reading if I
stretched the story just like the fishermen when they fishes.
Our Oscar has become a real Alaskan Husky in disguise or either
a bird dog because he points in the direction with his nose when he hears a noise that
he feels should not be there. He is in seventh
heaven with all the different animals leaving their calling cards.
Our first breakfast at Arve and Ida’s cabin went well,
if you consider that Conne purposely fried bacon hoping the smell of bacon would draw
the attention of a bear or a moose but to no avail. Bacon frying will wake up any human within 50 yards at least, so all of the humans within the space of the cabin suddenly appeared.
This
was a day of planning for all. Capt.
Arve was joy riding up and down the river in his boat.
For
lunch, Ida prepared us an Alaskan snack.
Get ready! Smoked salmon, smoked
Hooligan (smelts), are you ready?
Reindeer sausage. Yup! Santa’s
babies. Is there something cruel about
this? I ask you, is there? I did not sample Santa’s babies. Why you ask? We are stopping in the North Pole and I don’t
want to feel guilty when I walk in.
Besides, let me feel guilty about doing something, not eating
something. I guess I’ll just move on.
Mom,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your great sense of humor - not that the blog needs humor, but it does add character.
