Day 12 Dow Island/Sterling

Tuesday, June 25

Fishing on the Russian River is on the schedule for the Lower 48 residents, including the honorary Husky. They will be fishing next to resident and non-resident in the Alaskan waters.  There is more preparation in suiting up for this adventure than fishing off the bank in the lake or from your boat in the Puget Sound area.   I’m not a fisherman so to me, the equipment was very complicated.   You have to know what fish you are going after and then use the right pole, line test, bait, something called hip waders, etc.  What was wrong with the tree limb and string?  Arve', having lived and fished in Alaska for many years, has all the needed equipment for John and June (Frank).
Our fishermen boarded a ferry that whizzess them across the Russian River, which in my mind should have been called the suicide river because of its very fast running current.

So do you really want to know how many they caught this day after four hours?  Well, when you talk with any of them they will be very happy to tell you and I’ll leave it like that.
